Privacy policy

Effective date: 9 October 2026

In short. Shturman has no server and no account system. Your positions, trips and settings are kept on your phone only and are never sent to us. To make the map, search, routing and alerts work, the app sends requests to a few third-party services, with no account and no device identifier. We do not sell data, show ads or track you.

1. Who is responsible

The Shturman app for iOS and Android is developed by Alex Atamanskyi, an individual based in Ukraine. For privacy questions, write to oleksandr.v.atamanskyi@gmail.com.

2. What stays on your phone

This data is processed on your device only and is never sent to us:

We have no server, so we could not see this data even if we wanted to.

3. Third-party services

To make certain features work, the app sends requests to the services below. Requests carry no account, no device identifier and no advertising ID. Like any website, each service sees the request itself and your phone’s IP address. Each service handles requests under its own policy.

ServiceWhat it receivesWhy
OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org)The map area you are viewingShow the map
Photon by komoot (photon.komoot.io)Your search text and an approximate position; the point you press and hold on the mapFind places and rank nearby results first; look up the address of a point
Valhalla on the FOSSGIS public server (valhalla1.openstreetmap.de)Start and destination coordinates of the routeBuild the route
Public air-raid alert feed (ubilling.net.ua mirror)No data about you: the app only downloads the list of oblasts under alertShow air-raid alerts
Apple App Store / StoreKit (iOS)Purchase data, handled by AppleBuy and restore the subscription
Google Play Billing (Android)Purchase data, handled by GoogleBuy and restore the subscription

Voice guidance and activity recognition use the phone’s own system services (Apple on iPhone, Google Play services on Android).

If we change the alert source (for example to alerts.in.ua) or any other service, we will update this policy.

4. What we don’t do

5. Permissions

You can revoke any permission in your phone’s settings; the features that depend on it will stop working.

6. Subscription and free-time counter

Purchases go through Apple. So that reinstalling does not reset the 10 free hours, the counter of time used is stored in your iCloud Keychain. On Android, purchases go through Google Play and the counter is stored only on your phone.

7. Children

The app is rated 4+ / Everyone and contains no objectionable content. We collect no personal data from anyone, including children.

8. Deleting your data

Because the data lives only on your phone, deleting the app deletes it. The free-time counter in your iCloud Keychain remains. There is nothing to delete on our side: we don’t store your data. If you have questions, write to oleksandr.v.atamanskyi@gmail.com.

9. Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
